About the Role

An established manufacturer of industrial vacuum furnaces and thermal processing equipment in Burlington, Ontario, supplying aerospace, medical, space and advanced industry customers worldwide, is hiring a Cost-Out Engineer. The role reports to the VP of Operations, Ontario and owns cost reduction across the vacuum furnace product portfolio.

What You Will Do

You will lead cost reduction and value engineering across the furnace product line, pulling apart BOMs, labour content, manufacturing processes and supplier costs to find savings that hold up in production. You will build the cost models, run value analysis workshops, and work across procurement, engineering and operations to get the improvements implemented and the savings tracked. The goal is a more competitive and more profitable product without giving up quality or performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead cost reduction and value engineering programs across the vacuum furnace product portfolio
• Analyze BOMs, labour content, manufacturing processes and supplier costs
• Identify savings through design simplification, standardization, sourcing optimization and process improvements
• Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) initiatives
• Develop cost models and track realized savings
• Facilitate value analysis workshops
• Work with procurement, engineering and operations teams to implement improvements

Must Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years in cost engineering, value engineering, manufacturing engineering or a related field
• Strong analytical, financial and project management skills
• Proven ability to deliver measurable cost reductions
• Able to work on site in Burlington, Ontario

Nice to Haves

• Experience with industrial equipment or capital equipment
• Vacuum furnace, heat treating or thermal processing equipment exposure
